High performance, little space, new solution

Project report Hyperscale data center Main DC

Three buildings with a total IT load of 55 MW were successively constructed under the name Main DC. At the beginning of 2021, the technical expansion of the third section of the first building with a cooling capacity of around 6.5 MW was completed. This task therefore also required special technology with air conditioning units from BerlinerLuft....cci Zeitung was on site and reported.

A few years ago, Maincubes One GmbH, Frankfurt, an operator of data centers, built a data center with around 8 MW of IT capacity on part of the Offenbach cogeneration plant site. The remaining 30,000 m² of the site has now been used to build another data center. The project was developed in 2019 by Energieversorgung Offenbach (EVO), DCDatacenter Group (DCG), Wallmenroth and Vantage Data Centers (VDC), Santa Clara/USA. Under the project name “Main DC”, three buildings with a total IT load of 55 MW will be completed on the site. The buildings contain over 22,000 m² of data rooms with space for several thousand server racks. The ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the first building took place at the end of 2019. The technical expansion in the third section of the first building was completed at the beginning of 2021. The cooling capacity required for this area alone is around 6.5 MW.
