XDuct® Smoke extraction ducting

RegionalCenter West receives certificate

July 28, 2021 - After Ottendorf-Okrilla, Cologne now also at the Uelzen site: Following successful certification in accordance with the EN-12101-7:2011 standard by the Institute for Building Materials and Fire Protection in Braunschweig (MPA BS), XDuct® duct and fittings can now also be manufactured from galvanized sheet steel and supplied with the necessary installation materials, smoke extraction grilles and fabric expansion joints.

After Ottendorf-Okrilla, Cologne and Bialogard (Poland), this makes the RegionalCenter North the fourth BerlinerLuft production facility that is permitted to manufacture XDuct® ducts and fittings with the CE mark in accordance with the MVV TB (Model Administrative Regulation for Technical Building Regulations).

XDuct® smoke extraction ducts ensure that smoke and toxic gases produced in the event of a fire are quickly and safely extracted in accordance with DIN EN 12101-7:2011 with CE marking. This keeps escape routes smoke-free for longer and facilitates rescue and extinguishing measures.

The special features of the system: fitting lengths can be adjusted on site so that the components can be installed without having to wait for oversize parts. Additional reinforcements inside the air duct ensure that the air duct system remains airtight and dimensionally stable even at high temperatures of up to 600 °C over a service life of 120 minutes. Linear expansion is safely compensated for by the new soft material expansion joints, which are fitted with 30 mm lightweight profile frames on both sides. Compared to solutions made of calcium silicate panels, the system is characterized in particular by greater stability, lower dead weight and transport risk and simple and therefore cost-effective installation.

A fire resistance test in accordance with DIN EN 1366-9 was carried out and the system was classified in accordance with DIN EN 13501-4.
